Seriously, though, in terms of rule changes, Im all for starting with the bat. You can eliminate the constantly-breaking maple bats and regulate the width discrepancies in regards to the extremely thin-handled/thick-ended bats all under the guise of player safety and environmentalism (i.e., we want fewer broken bats because it means fewer trees destroyed).
